The Iraqi government is returning to Saddam's old habits.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - More than 170 malnourished Iraqi detainees found at an Interior Ministry detention center appear to have been tortured, the prime minister said Tuesday. He said an investigation had been launched.

An Iraqi Interior Ministry official also said Monday that an investigation will be opened into allegations that ministry officers tortured suspects detained in connection with the country's insurgency.
``I was informed that there were 173 detainees held at an Interior Ministry prison and they appear to be malnourished. There is also some talk that they were subjected to some kind of torture,'' Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari told reporters.
Quite a charming little government we have built there, isn't it. This may also explain why so many dead and tortured bodies keep showing up rotting in the sun. The only other question that comes to mind is; Does the US still have the moral authority to denounce this case of abuse?

ReplyDeleteIt is only the enemies of the US that accuse us of torture. It never has been allowed in our military and never should. It never has been documented to have been an approved method of gaining information by our forces. It is an accepted method of middle-eastern societies, not ours. To suggest that it is accepted by this administration or our military is just spreading lies and mis-information like the yellow leftist journalists from whom you must get your "news".

In addition, in case you missed it, there have been a number of DOCUMENTED cases of torture, including a couple of dozen deaths.
Of course, I suspect Fox news has not mentined them
