Riots have broken out in the Afghan capital, Kabul, after at least seven people were killed in an accident involving a US military convoy. A BBC correspondent says gunfire can be heard from many parts of the city, including from near the US embassy.
Police said the convoy collided with a rush-hour traffic jam.
The incident sparked angry scenes in which crowds shouting anti-US slogans began throwing stones and burning cars, police said.
All it takes is a small spark, a little scratch, and the pent-up frustratian, anger, hatred, wells up and becomes evident, in a violent way.
And this country is considered a success when compared to Iraq.

I would say that the tentions have been escalating for quite some time. I don't think you can "spark" a conflict from thin air.

The US (and NATO) actions (inactions?) are the fule, and the accident was the spark
On a similar note, Murtha said that [cover-up of the Haditha massacre] this is the way they lose Iraqis. Many more fuel and sparks in Iraq, too.
