JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (CNN) -- South Africa's Constitutional Court has ruled the country's marriage laws unfairly discriminate against same-sex unions.
In the 9-1 ruling issued Thursday, the court -- the country's highest -- referred the issue to South Africa's parliament, giving lawmakers one year to amend the country's marriage act.

ReplyDeleteIt's worth nothing that the opinion is actually unanimous. The majority suspended the ruling for a year to let the gov catch up. The dissenter thought the ruling should be implimented immediately.
ReplyDeleteI hope the world keeps watching that in SA, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Spain, the sky hasn't fallen, straight people haven't stopped getting married, people aren't screwing sheep or marrying their daughters, and there are a heck of a lot more happy people in happy stable relationships.
