Jefferson (D-La) To Be Indicted

All I can say is what took so freakin long.

A Justice Department official familiar with the case said the indictment outlining the evidence against Jefferson is more than an inch thick and charges the congressman with crimes that could keep him in prison for up to 200 years. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case.

This is going to test the new Democratic commitment to end corruption. Of course, there could be a perfectly legitimate reason for that 100 grand in his freezer. Jefferson needs to resign, now. If he won't, the leadership needs to isolate him completely--and condemn his actions.

I'm not holding my breath.

What this country needs is a party that represents the people.

OT, but our very own Senator DimWit has made the American Taliban list.

The Democratic leadership has already isolated Jefferson. He has already been stripped of all his committee membership (*before* the indictment). Unfortunately the people of his district in Louisiana chose to send "Dollar Bill" back to the House even knowing about the cold cash, so it's one of those things where if the Democrats care about Democracy, they can't just kick him out of Washington D.C... his constituents wanted his corrupt ass in the House, so there it is.
