I Thought Lying To Congress Was A Crime

Bust based on the actions of our Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, it must now be an accepted behavior.

he tripped himself up repeatedly during his testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee -- quite possibly entering perjury territory.

At lease a few Senators are unhappy with his lying

So what are they gonna do about it? Charge him with criminal contempt? Bush would just pardon him, so what good would that do?

Everything ends with Bush and Cheney. As long as they remain in office, no Bush Administration official needs to obey the law (such as the law against lying to Congress) because they know Bush will simply pardon them. Crap, Gonzo was practically giving the MIDDLE FINGER to that committee!

I hate to sound so cynical, but remeber that he maintains Bush's full and unwaivering support not inspite of the fact that he repeatedly lies about factual matters to Congress and the press, but precisely because of it.

Since the House can't even muster the votes to end the war, it seems doubtful they would have the cujones to file a writ of impeachment. And since the trial would have to take place in a Senate presided over by Cheney, I think we can pretty much figure that an election is the only path to restoring government of, by and for the people.
