Shocking News

The Bush administration has lied to us about Iraq.

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration routinely has underreported the level of violence in Iraq in order to disguise its policy failings, the Iraq Study Group report said Wednesday.

The bipartisan group called on the Pentagon and the director of the U.S. intelligence community to immediately institute a new reporting system that provides "a more accurate picture of events on the ground."

Of course, you can not blame just the Bush administration for this deception. Some of the blame has to be placed on the Republican controlled Congress. Their failure to provide even the barest minimum of oversight is what has allowed George and his followers to lie to the American people.

The good news is now, after 5 years of war, the congress will again start to do it's job. Lets hope that the Democrats have the courage to do their job properly.

On second thought, maybe the idea of this President and his admnistration lying to the American public isn't that shocking.

The real shocking news is that anyone is actually taking this study group seriously. What novel recommendations did the group make? Imbed our advisors with the Iraqi military? Thats been done for years. Open discusions with Iran and Syria to help find a peaceful solution to problems in the Middle East? How stupid does anyone have to be to believe Syria and Iran want peace? Oh, I should believe they know what they're talking about...they did visit Iraq to get first-hand knowledge...only they didn't even leave the Green Zone. And how can the Bush administration, Congress, or any Republican or Democrat lie to us about the level of violence in Iraq? Don't we all watch the news? Don't CBS, CNN, ABC, NBC, and Fox all have their own reporters over there sending back the images we see on TV every day? And considering 4 out of those 5 television stations are liberal and oppose the war in Iraq, I'm actually tempted to believe the violence is being overreported. Seriously, I understand why people object to the war or think its going badly. I agree completely that things need to change. But to hold the Iraq Study Group up as a model of a great reason to oppose the war is just foolish. No one in their right minds (and I'm fairly certain several members of that same group have lost theirs) can believe that the ISG has ANY idea what is going on in Iraq, the Middle East, or any area of conflict today.
