Rush Tries to Cover his Oversized Ass

Rush spent most of last week attacking the woman who testified to congress about the importance of getting contraception included in insurance policies. He engaged in hours of attacks on this woman, he called her a Slut and many other less than polite words, he demanded that she post sex videos on the internet and generally inferred that the only reason that anyone uses contraception is so they can have engage in sexual activity 24/7/365 with as many partners as possible.

The (rather unexpected) result of all of this is his advertising base has had it and are now walking (running ?) away. Rush, now in a panic, seeing his multi-million dollar gravy train pulling out without him has tried to fix the damage by releasing the following statement:

For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices."

This statement, like the vast majority of Rush's words, if full of lies, twists of facts, omissions and self-serving phraseology. He starts early :

I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke
But that is what you spent 3 days doing Rush, blasting her, calling her a slut, hinting about her sexual activity and demanding, for lack of a better term, sexual favors from her (The sex tape he wanted her to make). Maybe he was calling all users of contraception sluts, but that doesn't mean that the attacks were not directed directly at Ms. Fluke. The next lie was right after this:
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress
The discussion in congress is not about 'personal sexual recreational activities' (please note just how Rush phrased this) it is about making sure that comprehensive insurance policies include contraception coverage. Rush is trying to make the fact that she was providing testimony seem sordid and tawdry by trying to slide the focus away from medical care and over to recreational sex.

And, so what, one of the reasons that contraception is important is so that persons who wants to engage in recreational sex can do so with the confidence that child will not be the result. Other reasons that should be listed as why this is a very important issue should include is so the couples who are monogamist but sexually active can have children when they are ready to, not before and then limit the number of children they have to what they feel is best for both the parents and the children (Few rational adults want to be the Duggers). Single women may want to be prepared if they chose to or are forced to (rape) engage in unplanned sexual activity. In addition there are numerous, heading onto countless, medical reasons why contraception is necessary and should be included in insurance coverage.

Now for the third and most egregious lie:

Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?
This is, in very typical rush style, a lie by illusion. Why mention taxpayers paying for anything since this issue had nothing to do with taxpayer services? He does this to muddy the water create the impression that those supporting this issue are looking for some sort of government handout. Not true, but a typical Rush lie.

As of this morning about 9 national advertisers have announced that they are backing away (for a while at least) from their financial support of Rush. It would be interesting to see if local advertisers are also backing off. Only time will tell if this has been Rush's Glen Beck moment (I would bet it will not be), but this dishonest apology should provide ample evidence that Rush is not sorry, will not change and is a vile today as he was last week.

This statement is simply about Rush covering his oversized ass, keeping his job and the millions of dollars it provides him, nothing more, nothing less.
