This Week In On-Line Headlines

I think we are now at week 6 of spot checking the tone of the headlines posted on the websited of CNN, MSNBC and Fox News. This week looks like a big win for McCain, with a much better ratio of positive to negative and more mentions overall.

Obama was mentioned 13 times, with 9 of those headlines being negative in tone. While Obama only pulled 4 positive mentions, John McCain was feeling a lot more love. McCain had 8 positive headlines 9 negative and 17 overall headlines.

The republican strategy of going negative toward Obama and crying about the tone of the media's coverage of Obama seems to be working in the short term. Next week should tell us if this plan has legs.

The thing I don't get is in the AP article itself it said "McCain campaign had rejected Obama’s proposal for two joint town hall meetings"

...yet the headlines and stories soley blame Obama.

It seems both are backing away from each others proposal
