Failure leads to corruption, this leads to decay

First we see a continuing failure. The US Army again missed it's recruiting goal, this month by 42%. The last 3 months have been well below goal, and trending down. The numbers should rebound in the early summer. It will be something to watch for.

Now for the second phase, corruption. In an amazing bit of investigative journalism by a high school student, David McSwane exposes corruption in the recruiting process.

The report featured David McSwane, an Arvada West High School honors student and editor of his school newspaper, who was "curious" to see what recruiters at a Golden recruitment facility would do if he told them he wanted to join the Army as a high school dropout with a serious marijuana problem.

The end result will be decay. We could see a force as weak and ineffective as the ones we had in place in the late 70s and early 80s. All of this because of imagined weapons of mass destruction.

This has been the topic of a number of Blogs today. The Green Knight has tied these stories into the England trial. They made a good point.
