Walk Loudly, and Carry a Broken Stick

The Bush administration is again making threatening statements toward Iraq, and their nuclear project.

Fareed Zakaria points out the danger of following this path, and points out that we need Iran to cooperate in the stabilization of Iraq. He points out that money is power, and with oil nearing $70.00 a barrel, they are gaining power every day, and he most importantly notes that what Iran wants is something close to normal relations and comes to this conclusion;

There are lots of reasons to be suspicious of Iran. But the real question is, Do we want to try to stop it from going nuclear? If so, why not explore this path? Washington could authorize the European negotiators to make certain conditional offers, and see how Tehran responds. What's the worst that can happen? It doesn't work, the deal doesn't happen and Tehran resumes its nuclear activities. That's where we are today.

I suspect the Bush administration will again refuse to consider a change of direction, and will continue to call names and threaten. This path will lead to nuclear escalation, but I doubt the White House has the courage to try a new tack.

Yes the artical is about Iran, but our actions must take Iraq (our biggest issue currently) into consideration. Iran has the ability to make our job there easier or harder, it is just a mater of what path THEY decide to follow.

In addition, everyone in the world knows that at this time the US is totaly unable to consider additional long term military projects. Bush has broken the stick, and 'hollow' threats only work when people still think you have the ability and the will to act on your threats.

We lack the ability (outside of stand off attacks) to take any real action, so our bluster is a huge mistake. We look silly, not powerful.

Thank you for both your visit and your comments

It doesn't matter what we think. It doesn't matter if you talk about Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Cuba, Venezula, or fucking Timbuktu. It doesn't matter because the people no longer have a voice.

If the morons who brought you Iraq decide that they are going to bomb Iran, they will do it and damn the consequences to the American people or to the rest of the world.

Its about THIER egos, we know what's best for you even if you don't so be quiet and just go along.

Its about THIER power, both in Washington, in their home states, in the world, in the corporate boardrooms. Be quiet or be unemployed.

Don't kid yourselves, We the People no longer have the ability to change the course of what is happening because after they fucked it up, we turned around and handed them back the fucking keys.

9\11 was the 1st day of the New Dark Ages and we are a long way from its end. I quit trying on November 3, 2004 and now I just watch as events unfold and wonder how many will have to die to fulfill THEIR lust for blood, power, and money. And they think that this pleases whatever god they happen to worship.

So Bush will threaten Iran and one day they will give THEM enough of a reason to do it, what we want be damn'd. Yes, I'm a cynic, but I have yet to be proved wrong with these SOB's.
