Defending the U.S. government's response to Hurricane Katrina, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff argued Saturday that government planners did not predict such a disaster ever could occur.
But based on the President's habit of promoting those who are failures or unqualified, I expect to see Mike serving as the Sect. of Defense, or Vice President in a couple of weeks.
I think about everyone in the US (with the obvious exception of anyone employed by the Bush Administration) knew that New Orleans would be at risk of flooding in a major storm. Of course, the Bush disdain for science and research no doubt plays a part here. It could be as simple as since the research and science didn't come out they way they liked they changed and ignored it.
Don't laugh, They have done it before.
