Top Judge Wants Out

He is citing personal reasons.

Rizgar Mohammed Amin submitted his resignation for "personal" reasons, the tribunal said, and not because of government pressure. It said the trial against Saddam and seven co-defendants would again convene on Jan. 24 as previously scheduled despite the uncertainties surrounding Amin.

I suspect the personal reason is a desire to not be killed, but it is just a guess.
