Al-Sadr Call for Restraint is not a Good Sign

The radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr , who's private army was involved in two uprisings against the American occupation of Iraq, is urging Iraqis to show self-restraint.

He is a man who has used violence, still thinks violence is a legitimate choice, and had a great desire to establish an Islamic state.

Yet.

At this time the direction of the country and the current situation is such that he is encouraging self-restraint. I suspect that the Iraq he envisions, is not one that most of us would be happy to see, and he knows that the Iraq of his dream is where they are headed.

Nice work George.
