More truth, without the Iraq Truth Tour's help

A interesting story about a trip to visit Camp Lima Base in Karbala.

It tells of how a drive of 60 miles can take over four hours. We learn how hard the US forces are working, but how their best efforts don't meet Iraqi over-hopeful expectations. It is amazing to see some of the US forces still justifying the war on WMD claims, and then assert that we are still looking for them.

The causal attitude the military has about recovering sent munitions is displayed in the tragic death of Ali Hamza. But most confusing about the whole bit is in the last paragraph.

On the way out of Camp Lima Base were two latrines, one marked "Iraqis Only" and the other "No Iraqis -- Americans Only". Asked for an explanation, Major Booth replied that this was due to 'cultural differences'.

How many of our other difficulties, including the very start of the war, can be based in 'cultural differences', and the Bush Administration's failure to understand them.
