Cheesy Movie Flashback (1984)

A cold war disaster story.

The US is overrun by forces from Russia and Latin America. The story follows the heroic life and death struggles of a small band of young men and women who resort to guerilla warfare to try to force the invading armies out.

A true Reagan Era Classic, with evil commies, brave Americans, and victory through sacrifice.

It makes one wonder.

If the story was in 2004, and battlefield was the not the mountains but the Tigris and Euphrates river? How well it would be received by the American viewing public, and how well in the Middle East. The change of perspective makes a B grade action flick morph into a continuing nightmare.

Unfortunately for our troops playing the roll of the invading army, the bombs being used now are much bigger than those used in 1984.

But they are bad and we are good.

so it is all OK for us to fight a was against invaders, but it is wrong for them to do it.
