Sad To Be A South Carolinian

Yesterday my Senator let me down (again).

Lindsey Graham, a member of the gang on 14 and occasional semi-rational voice, drafted and got passed by the senate a provision denying court access to prisoners we are holding.

The Senate voted Thursday to bar foreign terror suspects at the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, from filing lawsuits in American courts to challenge their detentions, despite a U.S. Supreme Court ruling last year that granted such access.

In a 49-42 vote, senators added the provision by Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., to a sweeping defense policy bill.

In doing this he is trying to give the president the power once held by only the strongest and most vile of despots; The ability to toss someone into a black hole, and leave them there forever, with no hope for justice except by the grace of your captive.

Something no American should be happy to see.

There are couple of positive points about this provision. It dose allow some very limited access to the U.S. Court of Appeals, and it only got 49 vote when it passed.
