Cheney Wants His Torture Option

and is fighting all efforts to restrict him.

Over the past year, Vice President Dick Cheney has waged an intense and largely unpublicized campaign to stop Congress, the Pentagon and the State Department from imposing more restrictive rules on the handling of terrorist suspects, according to defense, state, intelligence and congressional officials.

{snip}

Last week, Cheney showed up at a Republican senatorial luncheon to plead with legislators for a CIA exemption to an amendment by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that would ban torture and inhumane treatment of prisoners. The exemption would cover the CIA's covert "black sites" in several eastern European democracies and other countries where key Al-Qaida captives are being kept.

This mans 19% approval rating is totally understandable. There is no doubt that he is one of the most disgusting members of the Bush Administration, and with this group of people that is quite an accomplishment.

Yeah and the next time we get attacked who is going to stand up for us John "the wuss" Kerry?

Cheney. In Nazi Germany he would be in charge of the concentration camps. And would enjoy it. Is America brain dead?

The Bush Administration in a Hypocratic Nutshell: Bush Claims the Busheviks Don't Torture People (Despite Abundant Evidence to the Contrary, Including a Gulag of Torture Sites in Eastern Europe), While Demanding that Congress Not Stop Him and Cheney from Allowing Torture. Orwell, Are You Writng this Script?

Stolen from a link headline at Buzzflash. It does make one wonder, if we don't do it, why fight a law to make it clear policy?

America's not brain dead if that 19% approval rating of Cheney is accurate; rather, this administration is brain dead! If they were to send that bill (or the Patriot Act or their glorious debt-fixing measures) as a referendum to the people, they would be easily defeated and the public would be outraged. Nobody in this government cares to represent the -people- of America--"people" meaning the large majority of Americans. I only hope that Europeans, etc have stopped associating Americans with the current American administration, as the two are obviously growing further apart in ideals.

I didn't realize that Cheney's approval rating is 19%. What is Rumsfeld's rating?

Know any others: Rove's? Libby's?
Fitzgerald's?

I'm sure that you don't condone torture, right up until the time these people want to torture you or yours. Then maybe it would have been alright. If you take the weapons out of the hands of those who are charged with protecting us, then you will have to protect yourself. Are you capable of this? Are you a professional at arms? Because our enemies are.
Thanks,
Rand
