Republican candidate for governor Jerry Kilgore plans to announce later today that President Bush will campaign with him in Virginia on Monday night.
A statewide poll by the Mason-Dixon Polling and Research firm this morning shows Kilgore and Democrat Tim Kaine approaching a photo finish four days ahead of Tuesday's election.
The polls have been swinging away form Kilgore, and this is another indicator that Kilgore may be getting desperate. The gamble here is that Bush visit will lead to a higher turnout among the hard right that will be greater than those in the middle and the left who will be turned off by his visit.
A risk indicating desperation when you consider Bush's 60% disapproval ratings.
