Election Reflection, Wednesday Morning

Tuesday was election day in a few places. There were only a few votes of national interest, buy they deserve to be noted.

First locally.

Richland Lexington District 5 schools wanted 125 million for new schools. They were slapped down 2-1; The recreation commission wanted 30 million for new parks and pools, they fell by a 3-1 margin.

The anti-tax movement may be dying elsewhere, but is alive and well in Lexington county (the reddest of the red counties).

Nation wide the Democrats have to be smiling

They won the two biggest elections of this cycle, the Governors offices in New Jersey and Virginia. Arnold's agenda was completely rejected. Maine voters rejected an attempt to overturn gay rights laws. In St. Paul, the 'Democratic' Mayor, who endorsed Bush in 2004 was dumped for another Democrat.

There were a couple of losses. Texas approved a ban on Gay marriage, and the package of election reforms proposed in Ohio were voted down.

Overall a good Tuesday.
