Bush Administration Admits

They have committed a variety of war crimes.

OK, they have not admitted it, but their actions make it very clear that they know they committed them.

Senior officials have responded by drafting legislation that would grant US personnel involved in the terrorism fight new protections against prosecution for past violations of the War Crimes Act of 1996. That law criminalizes violations of the Geneva Conventions governing conduct in war and threatens the death penalty if US-held detainees die in custody from abusive treatment.

And since we have had dozens of prisoners die while in custody, a number of these have died as a direct result of physical abuse inflicted upon they while in our hands, it is clear that laws have been broken.

Instead of following the law and holding those guilty accountable, the Bush administration wants to change the law (since, in this case, they can no longer just ignore it). Typical disgusting behavior, that will, no doubt, get solid support from the majority of Republicans.

In my opinion Bush, Cheney, Rove and Rumsfield should all be charged with War Crimes.

Only the grunts get screwed, the higher ups, who arranged for or contrived the oppertunity for the crimes to occure, will get medals of freedom
