A Sad Day For Science

But a good day for Democrats.

Bush is getting ready to use his first ever veto on the stem cell research bill.

This is a real political win for the nations Democrats. Stem cell research is a topic that the vast majority (about 70%) of the people of the US support. This action can be used to paint Republicans as very anti science, and that political change is needed to get this much needed research on the fast track.

In the mean time, the research is ongoing. While governmental support is greatly needed, and would be invaluable in the quick development of medical advances, stem cell studies are already being aggressively perused.

With a few key election victories this fall, this bill will be law in less than a year, and the pace on investigation should then take off.

This guy's work has been blown out of the water by real scientist a number of times. Start with his first premis, that there are no 'human clinical trial'.

Of course not, right now stury is limited by a law Bush signed in 2001. But he try to imply that it is because of lack of promise.

He is a propangdiaist, not a scientist. He is employed by a right with think tank to promote right wing ideas. He makes his arguments based on his view about the immorality of using embryonic stem cell, not based on sicence and his arguments run 180 degress opposed to the scientific community.

Do you expect sopkespersons from Exxon to tell the whole truth, or just the truth as Exxon wants it presented. He is just like that exxon spokesperson, crafting an argument by including and excluding facts that all work to support his position, even when they dont.

He has become a poster boy and one of the rights leading spokespersons on this issue, but he is not a doctor, not a scientist.

If you want to see how real scientist and Doctors (you know, people who actually went to school, studied the subject, and work in the field) feel about him and his work, follow this link.

And you belived this.

Oh, and if you don't think he can be bought. He was dropped from the news syndication service that use to carry his feature articals because he accepted a 60,000.00 'gift' from one company he wrote a number of favorable stories about.

See, this is what I have been saying. Those in leadership in the right, and so many of their followers are wiling to accept lies, distortions, false facts, and pass them off as truth IF it fits their emotional view of the world.

And there are always people wlling to accept the cash to sell that propangdia to a willing audiance.

Thanks for you post and the opertunity it presented to me.

Why is he even deciding on issues he has no education, formal or otherwise? I'm not sure he's even able to grasp the whole concept.
