New Poll Numbers Don't Look Good

for both Bush and the rest of the Republican party.

Less than four months before Election Day, the latest FOX News Poll finds that voters strongly favor the Democrats on key issues such as the economy and gas prices, and give the minority party a double-digit lead for control of Congress this fall. For most of President Bush's second term in office, more Americans have said they disapprove than approve of his job performance and that is again the case in this new poll.

One detail clearly indicates where much of the Republican emphasis will be placed in their campaigning this fall.

On terrorism, Republicans, who once had as much as a 34-point advantage in 2003, now top Democrats by 12 percentage points.

With only their terror numbers holding up as a political advantage, we can look forward to 4 months of terror warning, reports, arrests and god only know what else, in the effort to hold onto power in DC. Everyone go get your handy dandy, terror threat, rainbow decoder ready, the fun is about to begin.

The sad part is it may work. So many Americans are now so well conditioned that they wet themselves at the mention of terrorism, I can see the Republicans picking up a few percentage points in the coming elections from the members of the Sir Robin Brigade.

Good post.

I'm of the same opinion--i.e. we can expect more fear-of-terror & (purported) terrorists from the GOP. It's really wearing thin already.

But no one will vote them out. They will be the Ruling party for another 4 years. That should make you very angry.

4?

Do you even understand that this is a MID TERM election, and in 2008 there will be yet ANOTHER election that will again open up the House, Senate and in 2008 we will also elect a new President.

Only the office of the President can be held for 4 years, the House and Senate can change leadership every 2 years.

Anonymous, a civics text book might not be a bad investment for you.

Oh Im talking the Presidential race. These MID TERM elections, are not going to change a thing. They will be so insignificant. If you think anyone will vote any different than Republican outside of maybe swapping a couple of seats, your living a dream Sparky.

Only if neither house of congress changed hands. If either do (or both) it will he VERY significant, since congressional oversight will actually start up.

Time will tell, but right now I could care les about 2008 and the rather childish '4 more years' chants, and will focus on 2006.
