Republicans for Moore

The first of the expected vote for Moore bumper stickers have been spotted in the Lexington area. The anti-Sanford efforts, that included the Knotts petition effort, are continuing to flow down highway 378 into Columbia.

While I would love to see a Kansas Type split developing within the South Carolina republican party, this clearly doesn't have the intellectual heft to represent that. This looks a lot more like it is driven by personality conflicts and a buning desire to get a little revenge, than a true repudiation of policy and ideas.

It will be worth watching to see if the republican for Moore forces gain any real traction in this area. In 2002 Sanford won Lexington county by 22,000 votes, about 50% of his total victory margin. Tommy Moore still has a huge hill to climb, but if Lexington republicans pitch in and start throwing a little dirt, it could offer him some solid benefits.
