Reaction Or Overreaction

When terrorist attack there has to be a swift and firm reaction. But when responding you have to remember that terrorist want to use your power to work for them. Just like many martial arts, their trick is to redirect the force that we are trying to use aginst them, to do damage to ourselves.

When Israel is attacked, they must respond, but in overreaction they play into the hands of the terrorist they are trying to defeat.

I can not see how blowing up power plants helps their cause. I don't see how denying clean water to children helps their cause. I don't see how attacking cities well outside the border area helps them. All it does is weaken the governments who you want to 'control' the terrorist groups, and further radicalize the population

If you want to stop the rockets flying into Israel, hit the areas where the rockets are. They have a limited range, and have to be within a few miles of the border. You you want to hit the terrorist, then hit them, these are all necessary reactions. When you start to hit the population, you end up helping the terrorist. The civilian population is already heavily supportive of them, and your efforts are just proving to this population that the terrorist are right, Israel is out to destroy them.

And that just assures the continued cycle of violence.

It appears that they, at first, were just lashing out.

Now, since the would is more supportice than normal, I htink they want to try to flush southern Lebanon of any element that they consider a threat.

The trouble is, they are weakening an already weak government in Lebanon, and it is that govenrment that will have to provide the services to the populaiton in the south that is, at this time, provided by 'the terrorist'.

This included education, health care, security, development and about all the services of government.

So

what they very well could end up doing is destroying the current govenrment in Lebanon, and maybe even trigeting another round of civil war, or partition.
